Night-Shift Working (Asian Women)

Mr. Thornton

asked the Secretary of of State for Employment and Productivity if she will state from International Labour Organisation records in her Department a list of Asian countries which prohibit night-shift working by women in industrial establishments.

The following Asian States have ratified one or more of the three International Labour Conventions, Nos. 4, 41 and 89, calling for the prohibition of the employment of women at night:

Afghanistan.	Laos.
Cambodia.	Lebanon.
Ceylon.	Pakistan.
India.	Philippines.
Iraq.	Syria.
Kuwait.	Vietnam.
