HC Deb 02 March 1970 vol 797 cc30-1W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she is satisfied that all men manning trawlers sailing from Hull since midnight on Friday, 13th February, were registered fishermen; how many were under suspension from the Port Disciplinary Committee for disciplinary offences; and how many had not been fishing for periods of one month, three months and six months, respectively, before Friday, 13th February.

Mr. Harold Walker

The Hull joint registration scheme for trawl fishermen is the responsibility of the Hull Port (Fishermen's) Joint Negotiating Committee. I am informed, however, by the registrar of this scheme that all men manning trawlers which have sailed from Hull since midnight, 13th February, were registered under the agreed registration scheme and that none was under suspension from the Port Disciplinary Committee for disciplinary offences.

I understand that the number of men who had not been fishing for periods of one, three and six months prior to 13th February were 45; 9; and 12, respectively.
