HC Deb 02 March 1970 vol 797 cc3-4W
50. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on what date Mr. Ronald Hope-Jones offered to resign or requested a change of appointment as head of the Disarmament Department; what new appointment has been offered to him; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Luard

No change has been made in the post of Head of Disarmament Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; nor has Mr. Hope-Jones resigned from the Diplomatic Service. Whether Mr. Hope-Jones has requested a change of appointment is a private and confidential matter between Mr. Hope-Jones and the Administration of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which I would hope that my hon. Friend will agree it would not be proper for me to discuss.
