HC Deb 02 March 1970 vol 797 cc25-6W
76. Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will give an undertaking that no decision in the use of either Ballykelly or Sydenham as an alternative airport on the temporary closure of Aldergrove will be taken without full consideration of the facilities and testing of both airfields.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

If the temporary closure of Aldergrove were necessary, full consideration would be given to the suitability of each aerodrome before any such decision were taken. The views of the user airlines are clearly very important but whether there is a need to engage in proving flights before coming to a view is a matter for their judgment.

77. Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the President of the Board of Trade when he will make available meteorological data on the comparative qualities of Ballykelly and Sydenham airfields.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

The collated data should be available within a few days.
