HC Deb 24 July 1970 vol 804 c270W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications what representations he has received from public and private bodies and individuals against the jamming of Radio North Sea; what are the statutory powers under which the jamming was authorised; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Chataway

I saw the two organisations that supported the pirate, and made it clear that our countermeasures would continue. These have now ceased as the pirate ship has stopped transmitting and left our coast. There were no representations from public bodies and few from individuals. I need no statutory powers.
