HC Deb 24 July 1970 vol 804 cc290-1W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if his attention has been drawn to the decision of the London Borough of Islington not to redecorate the home of old persons who are their tenants until his Department agree to bear the full cost of such work; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure the minimum of hardship being experienced by these citizens;

(2) what arrangements have been entered into with the London Borough of Islington for the payment by his Department of the total cost of redecorating council dwellings where the tenant is in receipt of supplementary benefit; and what action has been taken to inform such tenants of their entitlement.

Mr. Dean

I am making inquiries and I will write to the hon. Member as soon as these are complete.
