HC Deb 23 July 1970 vol 804 c182W
54. Mr. Norman Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what amount of public funds he is expending on the inquiry into crimes of violence in England and Wales; and when he expects the inquiry to be completed.

Mr. Carlisle

The Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University is undertaking an inquiry into crimes of violence at an estimated cost to public funds of £27,000. A survey of current and completed research on crimes of violence and a descriptive and statistical survey of crimes of violence should each be completed early in 1972. An extension of a current study in delinquent behaviour, to obtain information on aggressive behaviour by teenage boys, will extend into 1974.
