HC Deb 21 July 1970 vol 804 c107W
Mr. Concannon

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many men over 87 years of age and women over 82 years of age are in receipt of supplementary pensions from the Mansfield office of the Department of Social Services; and what will be the effect on their rates of supplementary pensions of the National Insurance Bill.

Mr. Dean

I regret that the statistical information requested is not available for individual local offices.

The great majority of men over 87 and women over 82 will already be drawing normal contributory retirement pensions, and the yare not affected by the provisions of the National Insurance (Old Persons' and Widows' Pensions and Attendance Allowance) Bill. The pensions proposed under the Bill are £3 for a single person and £4 17s. for a married couple, and supplementary pensioners without retirement pensions drawing less than these amounts will gain the difference.
