HC Deb 21 July 1970 vol 804 c107W
Sir B. Rhys Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the administrative cost of extending the payment of family allowances to the first child, and of how many children will be affected; and how many children are currently taken account of by the scheme.

Mr. Dean

The approximate figure is £6 million a year, plus £9 million for the cost of setting up: 7 million and 7 million respectively.
