HC Deb 16 July 1970 vol 803 cc257-8W
Mr. Denzil Davies

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether, in view of the Government's policy of improving the amenities of the development areas, he will now re-consider his Department's proposal to move the Shoeburyness gunnery range to Pembrey.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

The issues raised by the Ministry of Defence's proposal to move the Shoeburyness gunnery range to Pembrey have been fully ventilated over the past few weeks at a public inquiry chaired by Mr. Alun Talfan-Davies, Q.C., assisted by Mr. R. St. G. Whelan, A.R.I.B.A., A.M.T.P.I. It would be premature to come to any conclusion until my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales has had an opportunity of considering the findings of this inquiry.
