HC Deb 16 July 1970 vol 803 c249W
57. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the practice of the police raiding immigrants' homes on receipt of anonymous telephone calls, and that this was done recently during a wedding party in Westbury Road, Forest Gate, E.7, following upon a children's birthday party; and in how many other cases involving persons other than immigrants such raids have taken place during the past four years in the Forest Gate area.

Mr. Sharples

The police went to see the owner of 45, Westbury Road, Forest Gate, E.7, about an allegation, which was not made anonymously by telephone, that persons who had entered the country illegally were in the house. Police officers often make visits to private houses but I have no useful information on how far these involve immigrants or others.
