HC Deb 16 July 1970 vol 803 c262W
Mr. Michael Hamilton

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will maintain the practive of all Administrations prior to 1964 of holding planning inquiries in public.

Mr. Graham Page

It is the normal practice for local inquiries under the Town and Country Planning Acts to be held in public. Inspectors have power to vary that practice in special circumstances and an inspector's discretion to restrict attendance has been exercised on only two recorded occasions. There has been no change in practice since 1964 and none is intended.
