HC Deb 16 July 1970 vol 803 c239W
43. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many men and women, respectively, have been made redundant in each of the new towns in Scotland within the last month; and what are the causes of such redundancy.

Mr. Dudley Smith

Between 15th June and 14th July redundancies in new towns in Scotland reported to my Department's local offices affected 35 men and 26 women at Cumbernauld, 182 men and 193 women at Glenrothes and 21 men at East Kilbride. In one firm redundancy was attributed to a delay in the receipt of components and in the others to lack of demand for products.
