HC Deb 16 July 1970 vol 803 cc238-9W
42. Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if, in view of the fact that Employment Census Form ED90 duplicates information obtained by other means and that the timing of its issue has caused inconvenience to the medical profession, he will consider revoking it.

Mr. Dudley Smith

A full-scale trial census of employment is being held this year to test the feasibility of obtaining national, regional and local employment estimates from this source instead of by the present method of counting national insurance cards. The trial is at an advanced state and it would be uneconomic to halt it now. My right hon. Friend will however, be considering very carefully whether Form ED90 should be issued in future years.
