asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons were convicted in 1969 of offences under the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act 1964, and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1965; of these how many were in the 15–20 age group and how many were convicted of offences involving cannabis; and how many of the cannabis offenders were in the 15–20 age group.

My Lords, 6,595 persons were convicted in the United Kingdom in 1969 under the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act 1964 or the Dangerous Drags Acts 1965 and 1967; of these 3,194 were aged 15 and under 21 years. The figures include 4,705 persons convicted of offences involving cannabis, of whom 1,833 were aged 15 and under 21 years.
