§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether he will take whatever action may be necessary to ensure that when his Department gives incorrect information in answer to hon. Members' Parliamentary Questions subsequent apologies and corrections in addition to being sent by post 89W to the Member concerned are published in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
(2) whether he will cause an investigation to be made to ascertain why the hon. Member for West Ham, North was given false information by an officer of his Department on 13th May, 1970, in view of the fact that a letter dated 15th June was sent admitting that false information had been supplied; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. SharplesMy predecessor's private secretary wrote to the hon. Gentleman on 15th June giving him the additional information which had been obtained since his original question had been answered. As the hon. Gentleman was informed, the number of child casualties of all ages in Newham that were recorded locally during the three months ended 28th February, 1970, was 70.
