HC Deb 07 July 1970 vol 803 c48W
Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Transport if he will make a statement about the future grant aid to the British Railways Board in respect of the Euston-Stranraer boat train service.

Mr. Peyton

The Railways Board has told my Department that it does not wish to operate this service on a commercial basis I have therefore renewed the grant for a further year with effect from 1st July to allow time for discussion on the future of the service with the Northern Ireland Government, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Economic Planning Councils involved.
