Mr. Michael Shawasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she will make a statement on the results of the experimental use of an electronics communications system for the transmission of data of unemployment and vacancies in the Birmingham area; and whether she proposes to extend this system to other parts of the country.
§ Mrs. CastlePreliminary results of the experimental use of facsimile equipment in the Birmingham area for vacancy circulation are very encouraging but the system has been in full operation for less than three months. When we have had more experience we will consider whether it could with advantage be introduced in other areas.
