HC Deb 29 January 1970 vol 794 c380W
Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many persons, male and female, and young persons, male and female, were unemployed in the Northern Region and Gateshead and distrct, respectively; what was the percentage of total unemployed in the Northern Region and Gateshead and district, respectively, together with the number of unfilled vacancies, at the latest convenient date; and how these figures compare with those of 1963.

Mr. Dell

Following is the information:

tivity whether she will assist Members of Parliament, as prospective employers of secretaries capable of shorthand and typing on a salary of £500 per annum for 48–50 hours per week, by supplying to them details of the persons so qualified who are known to her Department to be available for such employment.

Mr. Dell

Our employment exchanges will do their best to help any Member of Parliament who notifies a vacancy for a secretary, but as I have already told my hon. Friend, the current salary range offered by employers in London for full-time secretaries is in excess of the figure mentioned.
