§ 5. Sir G. Nabarroasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she will now make a statement on her plans to reduce the losses of production and exports in 1970 in the motor industry arising from strikes and similar disorders.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerTwo factors which in my judgment would help to contain the incidence of disputes in the industry are the improvement of procedures and of pay structures. The Joint Council which the two sides of the industry have recently set up will be studying ways of bringing about improvements in these two areas, and will also be available to investigate serious disputes. The reform of the procedure operating in federated companies is already under discussion between the two sides of the engineering industry. The services of my Department are also available.
