§ Mr. Youngerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland by what date he now estimates that the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Port Glasgow will be completed.
§ Mr. RossThe completion of work on modernising the trunk road between Glasgow and Port Glasgow involves two schemes. One is stage II of Bishopton Bypass, which will be a motorway. The other is the new West Ferry to Port Glasgow road which, as we have always intended, will be a dual carriageway road built to near-motorway standards. Work on both schemes should be completed in 1973.
I cannot make a more precise forecast until the remaining statutory procedures have been concluded.
