HC Deb 28 January 1970 vol 794 c357W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland by what date he now estimates that the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Port Glasgow will be completed.

Mr. Ross

The completion of work on modernising the trunk road between Glasgow and Port Glasgow involves two schemes. One is stage II of Bishopton Bypass, which will be a motorway. The other is the new West Ferry to Port Glasgow road which, as we have always intended, will be a dual carriageway road built to near-motorway standards. Work on both schemes should be completed in 1973.

I cannot make a more precise forecast until the remaining statutory procedures have been concluded.
