HC Deb 27 January 1970 vol 794 c303W
77. Mr. Dance

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will refer the increase by the British Railways Board in platform tickets from 3d. to 6d. to the National Board for Prices and Incomes; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Murray

No. The Railways Board is following the recommendation of the National Board for Prices and Incomes that it should adopt a policy of market pricing in fixing its charges for the services and facilities which it offers.

The Railways Board has told me that the price of 3d. for a platform ticket has remained in force for five years and it has decided it should now be increased to a price more in accord with present-day costs.
