HC Deb 27 January 1970 vol 794 c300W
68. Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the blighting implications for Bebington of the proposal by the Merseyside Land Use and Transportation Study for a major crossing of the Mersey between Bromborough and Liverpool, he will make a statement of his policy on the feasibility, desirability, timing and detailed routing of such a scheme.

Mr. Bob Brown

The study indicated that a third crossing of the Mersey in this area was ultimately desirable, but not before the 1980s. It is for the local authorities on Merseyside to initiate for my right hon. Friend's consideration proposals for a crossing, including the timing and route.
