asked the Minister of Transport how many countries have ratified the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic; and, of those, how many make it obligatory on motorists to carry advance warning triangles.

Her Majesty's Government have not yet been informed that any country has ratified the convention.

asked the Minister of Transport what progress is being made towards an international standard for advance warning triangles carried by motorists.

Mr. Bob Brown

A draft is being discussed by a working party of the Economic Commission for Europe. It is possible that outstanding points will be resolved at the working party's next meeting in March.
