asked the Minister of Technology what has been the amount of assistance to industry in the special development areas in the Bishop Auckland constituency since the special development areas scheme was started.

I regret that this information is not available. In the Northern Special Development Area as a whole, assistance under the Local Employment Acts totalling £24.2 million, including factory building, was approved, between 14th November, 1967 and 31st December, 1969. Corresponding figures for payments of investment grants are not available.
