HC Deb 21 January 1970 vol 794 c127W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied with the current rate of starts on house building; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

I am never satisfied, but the figures for 1969, published today, are not discouraging. The number of houses started, though fewer than in the previous two years, was more than in any year from 1954 to 1964, while for the third year running the number completed established a new record.
