HC Deb 20 January 1970 vol 794 cc88-9W
47. Mr. Hooley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated gross outflow of capital from the United Kingdom to South Africa in 1969; and what were the comparable figures for 1968 and 1967.

Mr. Taverne

In 1968 private investment in South Africa is provisionally estimated at some £60 million—net of disinvestment—following £40 million in 1967. Figures for 1969 are not yet available but indications are that the outflow may have fallen. There was no outflow of official long-term capital.
