HC Deb 20 January 1970 vol 794 c91W
55. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the results of his recent visit to the United States of America, with special reference to agreements made for export of British goods to the United States of America, and indicating the present and future rôle of the British National Export Council in these spheres.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

My purpose in visiting the U.S. was to make contact with leading figures in banking and business and to explain recent developments in the British economy. I hope the visit will have assisted British exports. The rôle of the B.N.E.C. is a matter for my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
