HC Deb 20 January 1970 vol 794 cc115-6W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food on how many occasions and on what dates his working party on performance standards for boar licences has held meetings; what progress has been made; when he expects it to report; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Mackie

Since the two meetings of the working party on 27th September and 18th October, 1968, my right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland have concluded that the prescription of performance standards for boar licensing could not be examined further without a complete review of sire licensing. This review was announced on 6th November last in reply to a question by the hon. Member for North Angus and Mearns (Mr. Buchanan-Smith) and is being carried out in consultation with the interests concerned. We regard these wider consultations as overtaking the discussions in the working party.—[Vol. 790, c.170.]
