HC Deb 27 February 1970 vol 796 c436W
Mr. Bessell

asked the Minister of Transport if he will issue a general direction to the Railways Board to require the Board to institute a full inquiry into derailments where hardship and inconvenience are caused to passengers.

Mr. Murray

No; I am assured that it is the board's invariable practice to do this. They take all practicable steps to reduce hardship or inconvenience to passengers at the time, and subsequently they review their emergency arrangements as may prove necessary in the light of their investigations.
