HC Deb 26 February 1970 vol 796 cc379-80W
50. Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she will make a statement on the introduction of new training courses in Government training centres in the Northern Region and the occupancy of these centres.

Mr. Dell

As I informed my right hon. Friend in my letter of 15th December, 1969, the courses are kept under constant review so that they can be adjusted to the changing needs of industry. The number of building trade classes is being reduced, and new ones, mainly in engineering, have been or are to be introduced. On 12th January, 1970 there were 1,065 training places in Northern Region centres, and 739 were occupied.
