asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will state the number of stoppages and working days lost due to industrial disputes in January including and excluding coalmining.

The total number of stoppages of work due to industrial disputes in the United Kingdom which began in January, 1970 was 279. Working days lost in all stoppages in progress in the month totalled 415,000. Excluding coalmining, the corresponding figures were 268 stoppages and 414,000 days lost. All these figures are provisional.
