HC Deb 26 February 1970 vol 796 cc387-8W
Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will make a statement upon the trawlermen's strike in Hull.

Mr. Harold Walker

A strike of trawlermen began in Hull on 12th February following failure by the parties to reach agreement on a claim involving an increase in pay; 100 per cent. trade union membership; and the appointment of shipboard representatives. My officers have been in touch throughout with representatives of the union and employers and are continuing their efforts to help bring about a settlement.
