asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the amount of housing subsidy paid by the Exchequer in each year since 1963–64 to the former Metropolitan Boroughs of Deptford and Lewisham and to the London Borough of Lewisham.

The latest estimates of rate support grant payable to the London Borough of Lewisham for the years 1967–68, 1968–69, 1969–70 and 1970–71, and the corresponding grants for the two previous years are shown below. Comparable figures for 1963–64 and 1964–65 for the areas now comprising the London Borough of Lewisham are not available; much of the total grant was then payable to the London County Council.
