HC Deb 24 February 1970 vol 796 c283W
Mr. Alison

asked the Minister of Transport (1) on what date he anticipates that work on the ground will start in connection with the proposed Tadcaster by-pass on the West Riding of Yorkshire section of the A64 trunk road;

(2) how many stages are involved in the preparation, planning and implementing of major road schemes; and which of these stages has now been reached by the proposed Tadcaster by-pass on the A64 trunk road in Yorkshire and the West Riding of Yorkshire.

Mr. Bob Brown

There are six main stages—preliminary investigations leading to inclusion in the preparation pool; preliminary report; firm programming; completion of statutory procedures including land acquisition: financial approval to works commitment and invitation of tenders and award of contract. The preliminary report for the Tadcaster by-pass is in preparation. It is too early to forecast a date for start of construction.
