asked the Minister of Transport what are his proposals to extend the M5 motorway from Exeter to Plymouth and Penzance; and by what date this will be completed.

None. We expect dualling of the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth to be substantially completed by the mid-1970s. Proposals for the route from Plymouth to Penzance are included in the published Green Paper "Roads for the Future" on which no decisions have yet been taken.
