§ 67. Mr. Howieasked the Minister of Technology what estimate he has made of the royalties and other invisible earnings of the motor manufacturing industry from completely knocked down sets for assembly abroad and parts for use in local manufacture for the last 12-month period for which information is available.
§ Mr. BennNo detailed information is available on the invisible earnings of individual manufacturing industries. Visible exports of CKD sets and assembly parts amounted to some £206 million in 1969, compared with some £185 million in 1968.
§ 68. Mr. Howieasked the Minister of Technology what consideration he has now given to the Industrial Report by the Motor Manufacturing Economic Development Council; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BennI have nothing to add to what I said in the debate in the House on 11th February. The proposals in the E.D.C. report are under serious study by the Government, and I intend to invite the main manufacturers to hold more detailed discussions on it over the next few months.—[Vol. 795, c. 1279–93.]
