HC Deb 20 February 1970 vol 796 c204W
Mr. Dunn

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a further statement about bridge and whist clubs being able to charge table money from 1st July when Parts I and II of the Gaming Act, 1968, come into operation.

Mr. Callaghan

Bridge or whist clubs which are genuine members' clubs and wish to charge more than 6d. a day per person table money from 1st July should register under Part II of the Gaming Act, 1968, with the gaming licensing committee of the local justices. Applications for registration must be submitted to the clerk to the justices before the end of February. Proprietary clubs are not eligible for registration and will need to meet the cost of providing facilities for gaming by adjusting their annual subscriptions.
