HC Deb 19 February 1970 vol 796 c175W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Minister of Transport what representations he has received from road haulage interests about the lack of co-ordination between various police authorities with regard to the regulations for the travelling of oversized loads; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

I have been asked to reply.

One company has suggested that a central control should be set up to direct the movement of abnormal loads which at present have to be notified to the separate police forces. The reply explained that, it would not be appropriate for a central authority to take over the responsibility of chief officers of police for directing the movement of abnormal loads in their own police areas.
