HC Deb 18 February 1970 vol 796 c148W
Miss Devlin

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, following representations made by Messrs. Somers and Laity, solicitors, the Governor of Brixton Prison has now informed police of allegations that two of his officers assaulted a man in his custody causing actual bodily harm; and on what date the report to the police was made.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

A thorough investigation by the Governor has not produced any evidence to support the prisoner's allegations that injuries he received were inflicted by prison officers and the prisoner maintains that he could not identify the officers concerned. The allegations will be reported to the police if supporting information is produced.
