HC Deb 17 February 1970 vol 796 c61W
50. Captain W. Elliot

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if Her Majesty's Stationery Office makes a profit or a loss on its publications; and what are the figures for the most recent financial year.

Mr. William Rodgers

Her Majesty's Stationery Office aims to recover its publishing and bookselling costs over the general range of its publications. In 1968–69 it had a net surplus of approximately £60,000 or 1.2 per cent. of the face value of its publishing output, excluding debates and gazettes, to which special considerations apply.
