HC Deb 16 February 1970 vol 796 cc28-9W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now publish details of new instructions which he has issued to revelant officials following the case of Miss Ranjan Vaid, refused entry to Great Britain last week; where Miss Vaid is now; and what action he has now taken to determine the number of British citizens in East Africa without employment prospects and who have notified Her Majesty's Government's representative that they wish to come to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

No new instructions to immigration officers are necessary in consequence of the case of Miss Vaid, who has now been admitted to the United Kingdom.

My right hon. Friend is kept fully informed by our High Commissioners in East Africa of the number of United Kingdom passport holders who have applied for permission to settle here.
