HC Deb 12 February 1970 vol 795 c373W
21. Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied as to the adequacy of the equipment at the disposal of the Portsmouth fire service; and whether he will make regulations to ensure that proper standards are maintained by fire service authorities in this respect.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

I am informed by Her Majesty's Inspector of Fire Services that the equipment of the Portsmouth fire brigade is capable of meeting operational requirements at the present time but that a programme has been approved for replacing a number of old appliances. My right hon. Friend will consider in the light of the Holroyd report whether present arrangements for ensuring that fire authorities maintain proper standards are adequate.
