HC Deb 12 February 1970 vol 795 c388W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why police, together with cars and other vehicles, are engaged after 5 p.m. in giving out fixed penalty tickets to vehicles parked in the Green Lanes-Triangle-Fox Lane area; how long this practice has been going on and on whose instructions; what is the total cumulative number of men engaged; why police cars and vehicles are necessary; and what is the total estimated cost, including wages and salaries.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

The main roads in the area are subject to waiting and loading restrictions under Clearway Orders made in 1968. The restrictions, which are of particular importance during peak traffic periods, are enforced by mobile police traffic patrols in the normal course of their duty. The other informaation for which my hon. Friend asks is not readily available.
