HC Deb 12 February 1970 vol 795 cc381-2W
53. Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the recent warnings issued by the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare and Mr. Ralph Nader, details of which have been sent to him, about the possible danger to health from the radiation leakage arising from the use of microwave cooking ovens and colour television sets, he will make a statement on the extent to which users of such equipment in this country are likely to be exposed to the hazards of a radiation leakage.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

As regards colour television sets, I would refer to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Minister of State for Education and Science to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Fife, West (Mr. William Hamilton) on 5th February. The Medical Research Council's Non-ionising Radiation Committee is currently considering the effects of microwave radiation, including radiation from microwave ovens.—[Vol. 795, c.178–9.]
