HC Deb 12 February 1970 vol 795 c411W
Mr. Deedes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what decision he has reached on the site for the new hospital at Ashford.

Mr. Crossman

Following recent discussions, the choice has been narrowed down to two main areas, and efforts are now being made to discover which site in these areas is least open to objection. Among the considerations which are hav-to be taken into account are the possible loss of good agricultural land in one area, and harm to the amenities of a particularly attractive parkland in another. A decision is urgently needed and efforts are currently being made with the help of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government to find the most satisfactory solution.
