HC Deb 10 February 1970 vol 795 cc308-9W
51. Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what are the latest number and values of rebates granted to Sunderland ratepayers under the Rating Act, 1966; to what extent eligible ratepayers are claiming the rebate; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Denis Howell

The latest figures for rebates are as follows:

Period Number of recipients Amount afforded
£
October, 1968 to March, 1969 3,199 22,660

The number of householders eligible for rate rebate depends upon several factors including their incomes, the size of their rate bills and the extent to which help with rates is being obtained by way of supplementary benefit. Information available about these factors does not enable the number eligible for rebates to be estimated.
