HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 cc244-5W
65. Mrs. Joyce Butler

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what reply he has sent to the letter from the Patients' Association asking him to issue a directive to hospitals that patients must not be used for teaching without their consent.

Mr. Crossman

Having carefully studied the new evidence submitted, I have found myself able to repeat the assurance I gave to my hon. Friend in reply to her Question on 14th April, 1969, that no teaching hospital makes treatment conditional on the patient consenting to participate in teaching. A directive from me is therefore not called for.—[Vol. 781; c. 785–7.]
