HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 c262W
Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many local authorities were responsible for the 209 legal actions against persons or companies for contravening the Shops, Offices and Railway Premises Act during 1968; and how many local authorities have not taken proceedings under the Act.

Mr. Harold Walker

Eighty local authorities were responsible for taking prosecutions against 189 persons or companies during 1968 under the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act. The balance of 20 prosecutions was taken by 11 fire authorities and H.M. Factory Inspectorate. I regret that the number of local authorities who have not taken proceedings since the Act came into operation is not known.
