asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average waiting time for National Health Service patients seeking non-urgent orthopaedic outpatient treatment.

A national survey in 1968 showed that 60´4 per cent. of new out-patients referred for consultation in Traumatic and Orthopaedic Surgery were seen in less than two weeks; 16.1 per cent. waited between two weeks and one month, 17.3 per cent. between one and two months, 4.4 per cent. between two and three months and 1.8 per cent. waited three months or longer.
